Junior & Mid Lighting Artist

Jumbla Animation Studios is looking to hire junior and mid level lighting artists to work on commercial projects and game cinematics. 

This role can be performed remotely, with working hours overlapping AEST.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Understand and translate artistic and directorial intentions into scene lighting terms.
  • Create high-quality lighting in a variety of environments or modify existing lighting setups.
  • Create, implement, and optimize all lighting elements (dynamic, pre-rendered, indoor, outdoor, cinematic and cutscene environments).
  • Use lighting to convey emotional experiences that align with the artistic vision of the project.
  • Master the technical and artistic aspects of lighting.
  • Prepare presentation materials for validation and reviews.
  • Perform requested retakes.
  • Stay updated on advancements in lighting techniques and rendering engines.
  • Contribute to the improvement of the production pipeline.
  • Adhere to deadlines and production schedules.
  • Collaborate closely with relevant departments involved in lighting.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • - 4+ years of Lighting experience for mids (tertiary education for juniors)
    - Understanding of design and animation fundamentals: colour theory, traditional lighting techniques, camera techniques, layout and composition.
    - Experience using Maya & Redshift & Arnold & Unreal Engine
  • - Substance and Cinema 4D would be a bonus.
    - A good understanding of compositing techniques.
    - Strong look development skills.
    - Experience working in gaming, TVC’s and Studio environments.
    - A constant drive to learn new tech and progress your craft.
    - Excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
    - Basic knowledge of Render Farm management.
    - Light 3d scenes to establish mood and support storytelling.
    - Develop lighting setups that can be used across a sequence of shots.
    - Editing or creating shaders and look development in Realistic and Non Photorealistic worlds is a bonus.
    - Clearly and regularly communicating with creative leads and production management.
    - To work as part of a team and also manage your own workload efficiently.
