Behind-the-keyframes: Bruce Munro's Tropical Light

Written by Jumbla Creative | Oct 31, 2019

Between the months of November and April, Darwin enters its 'tropical summer' phase. To celebrate the unique natural phenomenon and drive tourism during the shoulder season,  the NT government commissioned internationally-renowned artist Bruce Munro to install a series of light sculptures around around the city.

All good exhibitions require good publicity. In this case, Atomic 212 tapped Jumbla to help animate a promotional TVC for Munro's work. The concept? Animating a sphere of light -- a kind of companion to Munro's own light sculptures -- as it travelled throughout the city of Darwin.

Hear from lead animator Bruno Borio as he talks us through the painstaking process of recreating Darwin from 2D images and the hero of the inquisitive light ball.

Bruce Munro's Tropical Light launches in Darwin today, and runs until April 2020. Find out more on the exhibition website
